If you are not able to work with your Medicare Part D or Medicare Advantage plan to resolve a problem, then you can contact a Medicare representative at 1-800-633-4227 (select the prescription drug option, and then choose the option to speak with a Medicare representative).
When you call the Medicare representative, you will need to have your
Medicare Beneficiary Identifier (MBI), date
of birth, name and effective date for their Medicare Part A and/or Part
B. If you are no longer in the Medicare Part D or Medicare Advantage
plan that you wish to file the complaint against, you will also need the
contract id / plan id for that plan.
Once connected, clearly explain your situation to the Medicare representative and ask the representative whether you can file a complaint against your Medicare plan based on your experiences - or perhaps the Medicare representative can suggest an alternative means to resolve your problem.
You may find that some situations cannot be resolved by your Medicare plan and you must appeal to an independent party for assistance (for example,
appealing a late-enrollment penalty to C2C). In such situations, the Medicare representative can provide you with the contact information to reach this independent party (for example, see:

You should not file a complaint against your Medicare plan unless you have made every effort to resolve your coverage issue without success (and you have documented your contacts with the Medicare plan - that is, dates, times, and notes of discussion). Once your complaint is filed with Medicare, your Medicare plan should respond quickly with either a solution to your problem or an explanation of the plan's decision.
