Unfortunately, the $250 Donut Hole rebate was only offered in 2010.
Starting in 2011, anyone who reaches the Donut Hole or Coverage Gap portion of their Medicare Part D prescription drug plan will receive an automatic 50% discount on their brand name drugs or a 7% discount on generic medications that are covered by their plan's formulary.
The statement that shows how close you are to the Donut Hole is your Explanation of Benefits letter that you should receive on a regular basis from your Medicare Part D plan or Medicare Advantage plan that also provides a prescription drug benefit. The letter should be about 5to 8 pages long including a cover letter.
In your Explanation of Benefits, you will see that your Medicare prescription drug plan is broken into several phases or parts with details about each of your prescription purchases.
