Usually you will receive your "Welcome" information - including your new Member ID card from your Medicare plan within 7 to 10 business days - after Medicare approves your enrollment application.
However, most Medicare plans are now sending a simple confirmation letter once they receive your application so that you know the enrollment process has begun. Usually during the Annual Election Period or Open Enrollment Period, new Medicare Part D plan or Medicare Advantage plan members should plan on a couple weeks before receiving information from their newly selected Medicare Part D prescription drug plan (or Medicare Advantage plan). However, depending on when you enrolled in your Medicare Part D plan - and the number of other plan enrollees - and the Holiday mail rush - you may wait up to three weeks to receive your new Medicare plan membership information.
If you have not received your Member ID and need prescriptions - you should contact your Medicare plan's Customer Service or Member Services representatives. (We have the Medicare plan contact information for all Medicare Part D plans and Medicare Advantage plans across the country on our "Enroll Options" or Plan information pages: http://www.q1medicare.com/PartD-SearchPDPMedicarePartDPlanFinder.php
You can also call Medicare at 1-800-633-4227 to obtain your Medicare plan's contact information. You will need your Medicare Claim number to access this information.
If your enrollment application was received - but you still have not received your New Member information, ask your newly chosen Medicare Part D plan if they can provide you with a:
- Member ID number,
- a Group ID Number,
- a PCN (Pharmacy Network number), and
- a BIN number.
You can use your Medicare Part D plan benefit with this information - even when you have not received a new Member ID card.
