As reported by the National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA®), a Special Enrollment Period (SEP) is available for people who enrolled in a 2015 Medicare Part D prescription drug plan based on inaccurate pharmacy network data.
As noted by the NCPA, due to erroneous pharmacy network information shown on the Medicare Plan Finder and other sites, some Medicare beneficiaries may have enrolled in Medicare Part D plans based on their specific pharmacies being listed as "in-network", when in fact, the chosen pharmacies were not part of the Medicare plan's pharmacy network.
The good news is that a Special Enrollment Period is available for people who enrolled in a 2015 Medicare Part D plan during the annual Open Enrollment Period based on this inaccurate pharmacy network information.
People impacted by this situation should contact Medicare at 1-800-633-4227, choose the option to speak with a Medicare representative, and once connected, explain to the Medicare representative that they selected a 2015 Medicare Part D plan based on inaccurate pharmacy information and wish to use the Special Enrollment Period to select a new 2015 Medicare Part D plan that includes their chosen pharmacy within the plan's pharmacy network.
