As was true in past years, some Medicare Part
D prescription drug plans will not be available in 2015.
If you are
enrolled in a Medicare Part D plan (or Medicare Advantage plan) that is not
being offered next year, your plan will notify you that it will not be
continued into 2015.
If your planned is not offered in 2015, and you are not being moved or "crossed-walked" into another Medicare plan, you will not have 2015
prescription coverage unless you join another stand-alone Medicare Part D
prescription drug plan (PDP) or a Medicare Advantage plan that offers
prescription drug coverage (MA-PD).
Some examples of stand-alone Medicare Part D plan that will
not be offered in 2015 are:
- The Cigna-Healthspring
Rx plan -- affecting 363,918 members
- The AARP
MedicareRx Enhanced plan will be terminated. Although the
Enhanced plans is not AARP’s most popular plan, 143,472 members will be
affected by this plan termination.
- The First
Health Part D Essentials & First Health Premier Plus plans
will be also be eliminated affecting 409,719 and 68,642 members
respectively. First Health will introduce a new First Health Part D
Premier Plus plan under a new contract for 2015.
- HealthMarkets Value plan (the Reader’s Digest
plan in 2013) will be terminated.
- The Medicare Rx Rewards Standard
plan and SmartD Rx Plus plans will also be terminated.
- The 2014
SilverScript Choice plans will be terminated for 2015 and the 2014 SilverScript
Basic plan will be renamed the SilverScript Choice plan in 2015.
