Please note: August is that time of year when Medicare and Social Security send out letters regarding your Medicare Part D “Extra Help” status.
This means that the Social Security Administration (SSA) will be reviewing the eligibility of selected people who applied and qualified for financial “Extra Help” to make sure that they are still eligible and getting the correct amount of assistance in 2013.
IMPORTANT: A notice will be sent to selected Extra Help recipients by the end of August with an “Income and Resources Summary” sheet enclosed.
If you get this notice,
you must fill out the enclosed eligibility form called “Social Security Administration Review of Your Eligibility for Extra Help” (form SSA-1026) and return the form within 30 Days.
If you do not return the form on time, you
may lose your Medicare Part D Extra Help benefits!
Remember that the Extra Help Income and Basic Resource Limits increased slightly this year, making it easier for some people to qualify for the Extra Help program and receive financial assistance with the purchase of their prescription drugs.
