The 2011 Medicare Part D Defined Standard Benefit parameters are now online at Q1Medicare.com, highlighting how Medicare Part D plan coverage has changed each year since 2006. In contrast to past years, the 2011 model plan parameters, such as the standard Initial Deductible, Initial Coverage Limit, and Donut Hole boundaries, have not changed significantly. Q1Medicare.com has also updated their 2011 PDP-Planner to help the Medicare community visualize how the 2011 changes can affect next year’s prescription drug plan coverage. |

Seniors and other Medicare beneficiaries reaching the 2010 Medicare Part D Doughnut Hole will automatically receive a $250 rebate check as part of the Affordable Care Act. The $250 rebate is a one-time, tax-free payment that will be sent to beneficiaries reaching the Coverage Gap phase of their Medicare Part D prescription drug plan. The rebate is not available to anyone who is receiving financial Extra-Help with their prescription drug costs. Medicare beneficiaries can expect to reach their Doughnut Hole sometime in 2010 if their average monthly retail prescription costs exceed $235. Q1Medicare has updated their online Doughnut Hole planning tools and Frequently Asked Questions in order to help the Medicare community understand the 2010 Doughnut Hole $250 rebate. |

The annual Medicare Advantage plan Open Enrollment Period closes on March 31 and after this date millions of Medicare beneficiaries will not be able to change their Medicare plan coverage until 2011. However, Medicare beneficiaries still have a limited time to add, change, or even drop a Medicare Advantage plan. Medicare Advantage plans are available in several different forms and are offered by private companies. Many Medicare Advantage plans include prescription drug coverage and provide members with an affordable healthcare alternative. Medicare Advantage plans are available on a county-by-county basis and Q1Medicare.com provides an online tool so site visitors can quickly view select features of all Medicare Advantage plans across the country. |

Features of all 2010 Medicare Part D plans are available through our 2010 PDP-Finder. We have also added a tool to help first-time users narrow the search for a new Medicare Part D plan: PDP-Wizard. If you wish to see how your 2009 Medicare Part D plan changed in 2010, try our 2010 PDP-Compare.
When will you leave the initial coverage phase and enter the Donut Hole or Coverage Gap in 2010? Will you ever leave the Donut Hole and enter the Catastrophic portion of your Part D drug plan? You can use our 2010 PDP-Planner to get an idea of how to prepare for your 2010 prescription drug costs.
Is your medication covered on your Medicare Part D plan? We have several tools online to help you learn more about which Medicare Part D plans cover your medications.
You can use our PDP-DrugFinder to see if your medications are covered by any Medicare Part D plan in your state - and at what cost. The PDP-DrugFinder also is the only place to find information on actual "usage management limits" such as Quantity Limits for specific drugs in a particular Part D plan. Here is an example: Show a comparison of the Ohio AARP & Humana plans covering Nexium 40MG.
We also have a Formulary Search tool online that will help you search any Medicare Part D plan's entire formulary. All you need to do is select your State and then select your Medicare Part D plan. You can then browse through the whole formula - electronically.
We also now offer a tool from our partner DestinationRx that lets you enter your medications and then shows you an estimate of your annual drug costs in a select number of Medicare Part D plans and Medicare Advantage plans. You can even save your medications in your own "Medicine Chest" so that you can use the information for later searches.
