$250 Doughnut Hole Rebate (24)
Starting in early June 2010, seniors and other Medicare beneficiaries who reach the Doughnut Hole (or Coverage Gap), and are not receiving any financial Extra-Help, will receive a one-time $250 tax-free rebate from Medicare.
Closing the Coverage Gap (17)
As part of the Health Care and Education Affordability Reconciliation Act of 2010, the Medicare Part D prescription drug plan Coverage Gap or Doughnut Hole (Donut Hole) will begin closing in 2011 (although a $250 Donut Hole rebate is offered in 2010). The Doughnut Hole should be closed entirely by 2020.
